When managing teams, I aim to serve both the organization I work for and the people working for me. I keep people engaged and enthusiastic about their work, and encourage them as humans so that they continue to grow and contribute in new ways that also help meet business objectives.
When managing a team working together, this is ideally cyclical—I lead with a business and design strategy that shapes my team’s work, and their work in turn informs and shapes future work.
When mentoring, it’s much more personal—getting to know people as individuals and helping them navigate projects and opportunities to achieve their own goals.
